Contribution of Support Sri Lanka Fundraiser to prevent the spread of COVID- 19 virus

Our next journey was to Hulannuge in Siyambalanduwa, a village about 400 kilometers away from Colombo. We donated facemasks and hand sanitizers to almost all the low- income families in that village.

You can see in the photos how helpless families there were. These days, the market price of a facemask is around Rs.100-200. Hand sanitizers are also being sold at very high prices. And there is a huge deficit of them too. Our foundation was also able to purchase facemasks and sanitizers for only 500 families.

This donation was not a trumpery matter. Most people living in this village used to go out covering their faces with a piece of cloth instead of a facemask. There was really no use of sanitizers at all. Because they are flammable, we advised mothers working at home not to use them while cooking or near the stove.

We also educated them on how to wear them in the right way. We felt that it was of much importance since some people were seen wearing it in a way which covered their eyes.

Everyone was thankful and we advised all of them to stay home.
